Using Waitlist
As the popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) increases, the demand to charge also goes up so, there aren’t always open charging spots at the places you need them most. If you find yourself in a situation where every charging spot is being used, like at work, you can easily add yourself to a busy station’s waitlist on the ChargePoint app. This way you get a notification when a station opens up and have the spot reserved for a few minutes while you move your car.
Get the ChargePoint app, available for iPhone and Android, and log in or sign up.
Open the app to see the map view of the stations near you and click the pin for the spot where you want to charge.
If all the stations where you want to charge are busy, select the grey “Join Waitlist” bar from the map view. Then hit the orange “Join Waitlist” button.
You’ll automatically be added to the waitlist for all stations in the immediate area. The gray bar near the top of your screen will show how many stations you’re in line for.
Make sure you’ve turned on notifications (main menu > Account > Notifications) to get an update when a station becomes available.
When you get an alert that “You’re Up!” accept the spot and it will be reserved for you. Only accept the spot if you’re ready to move your car right away because the spot will only be reserved for a short amount of time.
If you’re busy, hit “Snooze” to let the next person have the spot and keep your place in line. You can choose how long you want to Snooze. You won’t find out about open spots until that time is up.
If you don’t need a charge anymore, just hit “Leave Waitlist” anytime. Move your EV as soon as you have enough range so others get a turn to charge.
